Inferno Thermochemistry is an app for quick, easy, and stored thermochemical calculations on your iPhone or iPad.
Setup and re-use process systems as collections of compounds, chemical reactions and calculations. Components represent thermochemical data of compounds, sourced from the NIST-JANAF thermochemical tables (NIST SRD13) and other relevant literature sources.
Configure chemical reactions configured from the system components for calculating transformation of component amounts from the base to result state.
Configure calculations in a process system according to which variables to specify as input, and which variables to calculate as results, allowing you to specify one variable as a range of values.
Results show for the base and result states the temperature, gas pressure, gas volume (and delta), enthalpy (and delta), entropy, Gibbs Free Energy (and delta), heat capacity, reaction extents achieved, component masses and molar amounts, and fractions.
Select which properties to illustrate as plots, if a variable is specified as range of values.
Select the units of measure to specify inputs and view results in, and also the default options to apply when creating new calculations.
Use the app to calculate:
- Heat of reaction: Calculate the energy required or released of one or more reactions occurring at a set temperature.
- Product temperature: Determine the temperature of compounds for a specified energy change, for example the adiabatic reaction temperature.
- Compounds enthalpy: Determine the enthalpy of one or more compounds over a range of specified temperatures.
- Temperature of reaction: Determine the lowest temperature at which the specified reactions become stable, that is from where the Gibbs energy is zero or less.
- Equilibrium composition: Determines the equilibrium composition by solving the reaction extent of one reaction where the Gibbs energy is minimised.
